Cardio (also specific or high sensitivity) C-Reactive Protein is a marker of inflammation to the blood vessels and a strong predictor of risk for future heart attacks and strokes. Cardiovascular tests ordered vary based on patient symptoms as well as family history. Usually need to be compared with past tests by the patient. Other inflammatory diseases that can be detected by this test is rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or vasculitis.
