Lipid Profile - a group of tests that are often ordered together to determine risk of coronary heart disease. They are tests that have been shown to be good indicators of whether someone is likely to have a heart attack or stroke caused by blockage of blood vessels or hardening of the arteries (atherosclerois).
Total Cholesterol - To screen for risk of developing heart disease.
HDL - the good cholesterol that your body needs to work properly.
LDL - when you have too much cholesterol in your body some sticks to the walls of your arteries and become bad cholesterol.
Triglycerides - a type of fat in the bloodstream and fat tissue. Too much of this type of fat can contribute to the hardening and narrowing of your arteries.
TC/HDL Ratio - an equation that compares your good cholesterol with your total cholesterol.
