The CMP is 14 lab tests that give pertinent information about the current status of your blood sugar, blood proteins, kidneys, liver, as well as electrolyte and acid/base balance. Blood sugar is maintained when the body tells the liver to release glucose into the blood. If this doesn't happen correctly your blood sugar will drop too low. If there is too much protein detected it shows that the kidneys are not working correctly.
