Creating a Home Gym

If COVID-19 or cold weather has forced you inside, you may be wondering about the ways to keep your physical health and wellbeing in the new year. At Sterling Wellness Solutions, we want to help people achieve all of their health goals they may have for themselves. That’s why our health coaches try to work with you to achieve those health goals. Luckily for you, many household items in your home or apartment can be used to help create a home gym. When creating a home gym, even without proper equipment, you can achieve your 2021 health and wellness goals.

Books

Do you have a lot of heavy books? Whether it’s a dictionary or old college textbooks, you can use them as part of your weightlifting regiment. The thicker the book, the more weight it will have. If you’re just starting out your weights journey, you’ll want to use less weight. But if you’re more experienced, you can gradually add more books to create more weight.

Laundry Detergent Containers

Do you want something heavier to use as weights? Books are great if you’re starting out, but if you lift heavier amounts, you’ll want something heavier now as well. That’s where laundry detergent containers come in handy. They typically weigh a little more than books, so if you need something heavier for lifting weights, it comes in handy.

Chairs

Do you enjoy barre exercises? Unless you have an actual barre in your home, you may think it’s hard to find items to work on balance. However, chairs and couches work great to work on your balance during exercise. You’ll want to find a chair or couch that has an appropriate height for you to do barre exercises.

Towels and Blankets

Do you do yoga as a way to exercise and meditate? Using a yoga mat helps cut down on any discomfort you may feel if you don’t use one. But don’t let not having a yoga mat stop you from doing yoga as exercise. Blankets and towels act as an acceptable replacement, as both give comfort and support doing the poses and movements.

Backpacks

Similarly with books and laundry detergent in regards with weightlifting, you can also use backpacks to aid in your home workout. The good thing about backpacks is that they can hold many different items, in turn making it heavier. Fill the backpack with some books or something else heavy and walk up and down the stairs. You’ll get your heart rate up and create a little resistance in your workouts.

Cold weather and the pandemic shouldn’t stop you from achieving your health and wellness goals for 2021. Using household items for creating a home gym is the perfect way to achieve your goals, even if you’re unable to leave your home or your apartment. At Sterling Wellness Solutions, we want to see you obtain your health goals and surpass them, leading to your personal success.
